You may be done with your device, but chances are it still has life in it. If it's in
good shape, we'll help it go to a new owner through our trade-in program. If not, bring your mobile
phone, tablet, laptop
or smartwatch to your nearest store and hand it to one of our team members in-store for recycling.
We'll send it to our trusted recycling partner, who will recover valuable materials and used them to
make new
products - helping to reduce waste and support a circular economy.

Trade-In FAQ’s
It's our device trade-in program that helps save you money and is good for the planet. If your device is eligible for credit, you can get an Officeworks Gift Card.
Moorup is the company we're partnering with to deliver our trade-in program.
Moorup is an Australian B-Corp certified technology company, whose mission is to extend the lives of electronic devices, helping you save money, while helping the planet become more sustainable.
We accept a broad range of products, including smart phones, tablets, smart watches and laptops.
Absolutely, we encourage you to do so. Complete the quoting process separately for each device and we will assess each one individually.

Trading in your device is easy, but you will need to go through a number of preparation steps to make sure all your personal data stays with you and the device is unlocked before you send it to us, so we can assess it and give it a second life!
The general steps for preparing any trade-in device before sending it to us include:
- Unpair your device from any paired personal devices, usually a smart watch (for example, Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch).
- Backup your device data, contacts, photos and settings etc to your Apple iCloud, Android Google Drive, Samsung Cloud or to your computer (Mac or PC).
- Unlock sign-out of any Account Activation attached to your device, such as iCloud or Google Account.
- Reset your trade-in device, as this will erase all your data and settings, protecting your personal information.
- Remove your SIM card (if applicable).
If you have already completed Steps 1 & 2 and applied your backup to your new smartphone or tablet, you can jump straight to completing Steps 3-5.
Some Android mobile phone brands have their own backup services in addition to Google Account e.g. Samsung Cloud. See the specific section for your phone or tablet brand or go to the support page for your device manufacturer.
We will send you an email with all the instructions, plus your Australia Post Return Label (free shipping charges).
Once you have your mobile device backed up, unlocked and ready to ship to us:
- You can either print the Australia Post Return Label sent to you via email or take a digital copy of the label (e.g. open from the email on your phone) with you to Australia Post.
- Present the Return Label with your Trade-In device at your nearest Australia Post Office.
Australia Post staff will simply scan the barcode and for smaller devices provide a Padded Mailer Bag. For larger items, tablets and laptops we will send you a protective larger box first before you take your device to Australia Post for shipping.
Once Australia Post notifies us, we will send you an email and SMS notification (confirming that you have dropped off your old device to Australia Post.
Your device is now on its way to us for assessment.
Yes. We want to make sure your experience is as easy as possible for you and that it includes providing packaging and free shipping for all returns.
For Mobile Phones and Smart Watches you will receive the free packaging at any Australia Post office when you present your Australia Post shipping label.
For tablets and Laptops we will send out a protective box first which you then place your device into the protective box and take the parcel to any Australia Post office or you can deposit the sealed parcel at any Australia Post Box.
At the time of seeking a quote, we provide an estimated value based on the responses you provide on the condition of your device through our online assessment tool.
Things that will impact the estimated value of your device include:
- Working Condition: ability to turn on the device, the condition of the screen and does it have all its bits and pieces (buttons, camera, mic or speaker not damaged)
- Cosmetically, how many and the size of any scratches, dents or chips
- Any activation locks which have not been unlocked that prevent us for accessing your device e.g. Apple's iCloud or Android's Google Account
If your device has an estimated trade-in value, then we can immediately pay you by sending you a digital Officeworks Gift Card via email and SMS.
The value of the Officeworks Gift Card will be based on the answers you provided online during your self-assessment (our estimated offer).
