In some products a yellow protective cap may have been left on one of the two smoke sensors during the manufacturing process. The yellow protective cap compromises the smoke alarm's ability to detect smoke, which can increase the risk of injury and/or property damage in the event of a fire.
Inspect the alarm for the presence of a yellow cap, as per image below. If no yellow cap is present, reinstall the smoke alarm and no further action is needed.
If a yellow cap is present, contact Quell for further instructions and to receive a free replacement. Do not attempt to take apart the alarm, open the casing, or otherwise remove the yellow cap yourself. Reinstall the smoke alarm and only return the affected smoke alarm after you receive and install the replacement.
