What are routers used for?
A router is the core part of a home or business network. A router is used to connect multiple devices like computers, tablets, smartphones, printers, cameras and more to each other and to the internet.
How do routers work?
A router will generally have two main connection types being hard wired Ethernet LAN and wireless (WiFi). This enables flexibility to connect each device to the internet in the most efficient fashion.
What is the difference between a router and a modem?
Whilst a router is used to connect devices, it still requires an internet connection source. For some internet types (like ADSL/VDSL), a modem is required to receive an internet signal and pass it over to the router for distribution to devices on the network. Some internet types do not require a modem.
What are the different types of routers?
There are many different types of routers available to choose from. Some factors will include your internet type, number of connected devices, Wi-Fi signal area required and how you use your connection.
