Jasmin Lim still remembers her first-ever Mother’s Day with daughter Madison, 10 years ago. “I felt overcome with happiness and joy as I had been wanting to become a mother for a long time,” she says.

It’s still a day she holds dear. She usually spends it in the comfort of home with Madison, her husband Jason and her two younger children, Chloe, 8, and Olivia, 6. Breakfast in bed is a tradition, followed by dinner with the extended family. “My kids make me feel special by showering me with love all day. I get more extra kisses and cuddles,” she says. As for the gifts, there’s a few things top of mind that will make her smile.

  • Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 Instant Camera Clay White: “I love capturing memories on the spot with my daughters and having a little photo for us to keep,” says Jasmin. “Also, not knowing how photos are going to turn out and watching them develop in front of you offers endless enjoyment and fun.”
  • Otto A5 Undated Week-to-View Diary Boho: “I want to be organised with all the appointments, after-school activities and deadlines, and that would be made easier with this beautiful diary,” says Jasmin. Its A5 size makes it simple to slip this planner into your handbag and stay organised on the go.
  • Fitbit Luxe Fitness Tracker Orchid/Platinum: A fitness tracker is a fuss-free way for Jasmin to keep her daily activity, heart rate, sleep schedule and steps in check. This trendy option has up to five days of battery life and alerts you to calls and texts. Plus, it’s available in black for monochrome-loving mums.
  • Otto Pastel Desk Organiser Pink: Working from home calls for a tidy and organised work space, and this desk organiser will hold all of her essentials including pens, highlighters and notebooks. “The six compartments would help with keeping everything arranged systematically,” says Jasmin.
  • Celine Task Lamp White: No desk setup is complete without a desk lamp, and this simple and sleek one will help boost Jasmin’s productivity by keeping her workspace light and bright. Plus, it has a handy adjustable height and can be easily switched on and off from the base.
  • Smash Double Wall Travel Tumbler Lilac: This trendy-looking tumbler makes it easy to stay hydrated, featuring an ergonomic handle for easy carrying and a narrow base that fits most car cup holders.
  • Cricut Joy Cutting Machine: Jasmin loves crafting, and this handy machine can make everything from logos and stickers to personalised labels, vinyl decals and iron-on transfers, as well as cards.
  • Samsonite 14.1" Classic Leather Slim Backpack Cognac: A sturdy laptop backpack is a must-have for any parent who needs to carry a fair bit in their backpack, says Jasmin. “This looks modern, stylish and like it could fit everything I need.”
  • Born Embroidery Bag Kit: Crafting with her kids is a favourite pastime for Jasmin, so this embroidery bag kit – complete with coloured paint and embroidery thread – would make for a fun afternoon craft session. “I’d get a cute tote bag to go shopping with after I make it!” says Jasmin.

Mother’s Day Gifts for the Crafty Mum

An assortment of Born art products for Mother’s Day gift ideas, arranged in a neat pattern on a lemon-yellow surface, including paint by number sets and a colouring book and marker set.

If the mother figure in your life is on the hunt for a new hobby, an embroidered paint-by-numbers kit will give her two. These templated sets come with the paints and thread needed to create the native floral designs, including eucalyptus leaves, protea and eucalyptus flower lilac, which can then be displayed as a testament to their new skills. If colouring in is her mindful practice of choice, this mandala-inspired colouring book – which comes with six vibrantly-coloured fineliners and a book of 10 intricate animal colouring-in pages – plus a warm cup of tea might just make the perfect gift. Mandala-style colouring has been shown to significantly decrease anxiety in adults, so mum can sit back, relax and have some much-needed time for herself.

Mother’s Day Gifts for the Multitasking Mum

Keiara Dorrough, who lives in the coastal town of Kingscliff in northern New South Wales, hopes to spend Mother’s Day this year with coffee in hand by the water with her husband Kurt, and their three kids, Mila, 7, Lincoln, 5, and Regan, 3. “On Mother’s Day, the kids and Kurt usually take me down to one of my favourite creeks. There are barbecues and the view is spectacular! We grab a coffee along the way, cook up breakfast, and enjoy the gorgeous view.”

It’s the little things her family does throughout the day that Keiara says make her feel special. “Their handwritten cards and drawings they make me are always my favourite,” she says. “I also love how thoughtful their gifts are and how much they go out of their way to say beautiful things all day long to make me feel so special and lucky.” That said, there are a few gifts Keiara wouldn’t mind seeing wrapped up next to the handmade presents, as well.

  • Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 32GB 11th Generation 2021: “The thought of being able to bring all of my books along with me wherever I go would be so handy,” says Keiara. It features up to 10 weeks of battery and is water-resistant, too (great for beachside reading).
  • Reeves Acrylic Colour Paint Set 12mL 18 Pack: This high-pigment paint will serve as a prompt for Keiara and the kids to get creative together.
  • J.Burrows Magnetic Aluminium Frame Whiteboard 1200 x 900mm & Faber-Castell Connector Pen Whiteboard Markers 6 Pack: There’ll be no forgetting important events with this handy whiteboard. “[I love using] whiteboard markers for my planning and organising throughout the week,” says Keiara. The board’s magnetic surface is also perfect for holding onto party invitations, or even the kids’ treasured drawings.
  • Beats Powerbeats Pro Wireless Earphones Ivory: Keiara loves listening to a podcast while tidying the house or walking; these earphones are designed to stay put during exercise and feature volume and track controls on each earbud.
  • Vivitar 7.5" Compact Tripod: The right filming gear is essential for this YouTube creator and the compact and lightweight design of this tripod makes it easy to use.
  • HoMedics Cordless Neck Massager: At the end of a busy day, this cord-free massager is perfect for helping to ease neck and shoulder tension – no massage appointment required. “I think every mum would be very happy to receive this for Mothers Day!” says Keiara.
  • WD 4TB My Passport Portable Hard Drive Blue: With plenty of storage space and password protection, this hard drive is ideal for saving precious family memories. “[This would be perfect] for storing all of my photos and videos of my kids, and to know that they are safe,” says Keiara.
  • Otto Initial Pen K: One for the stationery lovers, this pen has a 1mm nib for fine linework and the initial means it won’t easily go walkabout and turn up in a kids’ pencil case. “I love a nice pen to write, plan or journal with – and this one looks so cute!” adds Keiara.

While tickets to Santorini or Cinque Terre might not be on the cards for Mother’s Day this year, it’s possible to bring a bit of Mediterranean magic to Mother’s Day. This Amalfi Coast-inspired notebook is ideal for jotting down dreams of a seaside escape, or taking the first steps to making Euro summer a reality in the not-too-distant future. Adding a fresh summery feel to their home or workspace will always make them smile, so consider this bright and fruity wall print or trinket tray and continue the theme into the wrapping, too. Flowers more to their taste? This prettily shaped photo holder paperweight or candle will be just the ticket.

Hot Tip: Add a photo of you with the giftee to the photo holder paperweight by printing your favourite snap through Officeworks Print & Copy. You can also create personalised presents for someone special, including a slew of photo gifts like custom calendars, glassware and mugs and large prints, as well as monogrammed clothing.
