In 1968, a 3M scientist, Dr Spencer Silver, was trying to create a strong adhesive when he accidentally created a mild one that stuck lightly to surfaces and was repositionable. He didn’t know what to do with this discovery until 1974, when a colleague needed a bookmark to stay in place in his church hymnal. They collaborated to create the Post-it Note, which is now used widely around the world. Today, the Post-it range includes the ever popular sticky notes, flags, tabs, stick-on whiteboards and more.
