Useful Information

What is a WiFi network?

Wi-Fi is a technology standard that utilises different radio frequencies and channels to transmit data wirelessly through the air. It allows for the transmission of an internet signal to devices such as PC’s, Laptops, Gaming Consoles, Smartphones etc. without the need for ethernet cabling directly to the device. This is more flexible and allows for connected devices to move freely or to be placed in areas where traditional cabling may not be feasible.

How do Smart Homes work?

To start with, you’ll need a router, modem router or Mesh system which you should place in a central location of your chosen space, so that any WiFi-enabled device that’s in range will be able to connect to the same network. Once set up, you’ll be able to switch on your WiFi-enabled devices and find your network in the internet settings. If the network is equipped with security, you’ll be required to enter the network password on each device that you connect to the network. After this, the device will connect wirelessly without the need to re-enter your password each time.

In order to create a Wi-Fi network and share the internet around your home or office there are a few factors you will need to consider. There are multiple types of internet connections available in Australia and you are best to first understand what type you have access to. This will then help determine the best products for your home or office.
